While I laughed at this and all, there are really valid reasons for this stuff. An animal shelter isn't planning on phone bombing you or dropping by your home.

However, if they become concerned about the pets care and have to call the police somewhere, they'd need a physical address. Or if they find out something concerning about the dogs medical history, they may need to leave a voicemail.

Animal shelters tend to be pretty strict in their adoption practices, but any good breeder should be as well. These are live animals that they're handing over to someone else's care, not just some product that the purchaser can do whatever they want with.

white historians will learn about the ancient greeks practicing human sacrifice and agamemnon sacrificing his own daughter iphigenia to please the gods in the iliad and go ‘oh how tragic!’ but still think the culture and people have value, and then hear about the aztecs engaging in the exact same thing and go ‘those are savage cruel subhumans whose culture us foreign and mysterious and scary’ and erase mesoamerican societies from human history/ entirely ignore them as though they have no value, like at least keep your supposed ethical stances consistent

speaking of race I have an unpopular opinion: uhhhh I don’t like the way Europeans always distance themselves from the “white people have no culture” jokes because they’re “not like white Americans” like......... 1.we know and 2. we also know y’all have culture ...... Europeans spent centuries colonizing the entire world and spreading their cultures.. idk why y’all feel the need to make a thread on european cultures every other week when the rest of the world had these cultures shoved down their throats for ages. please keep your thread on Italian traditions to yourself we all had to endure the cmbyn plague

1. They also invented kayaks and dog booties.

Dog booties are actually really important for working sled dogs in winter to protect their paw pads from iceburn and keep ice from getting in between their toes and burning them that way.

2. The traditional Inuit diet is one of the healthiest in the world, and the most balanced for the ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 consumption

Most modern diets consume way too much Omega 6 and not enough Omega 3.

3. Inuit is a plural noun. When speaking about a single person the correct word is Inuk (always capitalized)

For example, “This Inuk woman is wearing traditional Inuit tattoos”.

This is why the brushing aside of colonization because “well that was my ancestors not me” doesn’t work. You still benefit from it. You still perpetuate the effects of it. If white people weren’t like their ancestors? They would give these people their land back and let them decide how to move forward. 

Denying them housing on their own land? Being in a position to do that? Is certainly as colonizer as it gets. You are living your ancestors dreams.

If indigenous ppl are talking about their struggles and how systematic oppression effect them and your immediate response is “I’m not American, it’s not like that here in (Insert country)” you’re a racist. There’s indigenous ppl where you live, no matter where you are. The Ainu of Japan, the Sámi of Europe, the indigenous Palestinians, the Äynu in China, the First Nations of Canada, the Khoeisans of South Africa, Maoli of Hawaii and many more. Stop denying indigenous ppls’ existence.
